Primrose Farm offers a series of special events each year designed to educate and entertain. Each event is unique and different! Attend them all or pick and choose your favorites!
Advanced tickets are available for most events by visiting our online registration site and searching for the program name. Please note – you’ll only be able to find events with open registration. If you have questions about past or future events, contact the Farm staff.

Embrace autumn at the annual Primrose Farm Frolic – the Farm’s most popular event of the year!
Combining the unique atmosphere of a working living history farm with exciting fall and farm-oriented activities, Farm Frolic is a one-of-a-kind event for kids of all ages! Join us for a day that will include historic demonstrations, traditional games and crafts, tractor-drawn wagon rides, live music and delicious fall foods. Activities will include but are not limited to:
- Corn Cannons
- Face Painting
- Farm Animal Meet & Greet
- Modern “Big Truck” Display
- Old-Fashioned Games
- Pony Rides
- Pumpkin Painting
- Vintage Tractor and Equipment Display
- Corn Shelling
- Woodstove Cooking

Enjoy an evening of old-fashioned farm fun by the light of the moon. Cruise around the fields of Primrose Farm at the height of the fall harvest on a 30 minute tractor-drawn wagon ride. Gather around a bonfire for a marshmallow roast, hot chocolate and hot cider. Ages 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please call the Farm if you’re booking for a group of 10 or more. Group rates may apply.
Moonlight Hayrides will be held unless one of the following conditions is met:
Predicted rainfall with a chance of rain exceeding 40% at the scheduled time of departure based upon the Noon Tabular Forecast issued by the National Weather Service on the day of the program.
A declared Thunder Storm Warning for Kane County, Illinois is issued by the National Weather Service Chicago Office the day of the program and covers the scheduled time of departure.
A declared Gale Warning for Kane County, Illinois is issued by the National Weather Service Chicago Office the day of the program and covers the scheduled time of departure.

In the event of weather related cancellation, participants will have the option to transfer to another session, have the registration fee credited to their user account, or receive a refund.
Winter on the Farm
Saturday, January 6, 2018 from 12-4pm

Escape the house and venture out into an agricultural winter wonderland! Greet the year round animal residents and visit with costumed interpreters. Help with winter livestock chores, tromp around the lantern-lit farmyard and warm your hands over a bonfire barrel. Stop in the candlelit summer kitchen for hot chocolate, cookies, music and a holiday thank-you card craft. Tractor-drawn wagon rides will be available on the half hour for an additional $2 per person.

As winter winds down, farms begin to bustle with activity. Babies are born, planting begins, and spring cleaning starts. Help the Primrose Farmers ready the farm for warmer weather!
Swing into Summer Barn Dance

Twist, twirl and spin your way into summer with an evening of dancing and live music. Experience a traditional 1930s barn dance, complete with swinging music and dance lessons. Not a dancer? You’re still invited to stroll through a barnyard lit by twinkling lights, appreciate the aroma of fresh cut flowers, greet the new farm animal babies, take a wagon ride around the property and participate in the pie baking or costume contests.
